Van Gogh Inspired Landscapes

We've been learning about different art techniques and yesterday we studied some of Vincent Van Gogh's famous paintings. Afterwards I used an activity from Usborne's Art Treasury that has step by step instructions on how to make a bright-thick-swirly-curly landscape like Van Gogh's.

First we drew a swirly picture on thick drawing paper. Then we mixed white craft glue into acrylic paint and painted over our sketch. Then we used plastic fork to make swirly marks.

I love our final projects!

We will definitely try to incorporate more special project like these to our school. In case you wonder, Sarah was already in bed when we did this and it took us about an hour to complete it. There was paint mess all over us since my boys are still learning coordination but they helped cleaned up afterwards. :)
